Pansori, the discovery of the voice
The human voice is a unique and fascinating instrument. No other sound can touch us like the clear sound of our own voice. The Pansori method opens up the realm of sounds. Over time the unique and rich capacities of our voices start to resonate. No singing experience or skills are needed to embark on this journey. When we start listening to our own voice our awareness of how we limit ourselves grows. In due time our voice will become more expressive and our personality more transparent. The resonance of our voice in our body and in the space around us gives us an enormous sense of freedom.
The brain
In this work the focus is often on the impact of the singing voice on the brain. Brain research has indicated that we do not actively use more than 90% of our brain. This creative potential is fascinating. Investigations into the latest neuro-scientific research affirm that sounds offer unique possibilities to access our hidden potential and to effect healing. For this healing the high frequencies of the voice are of special significance. These partial tones, that have a crystalline quality and are also called brilliance, can reach up to 12.000 Hertz. An important characteristic of these high frequencies is their direct impact on deep parts of the brain. These sounds can create new neurological connections between different parts of the brain, while the neuroplasticity of the brain is activated. Our creativity and intuition are accessed and stimulated. Many of us have never heard this brilliance. It is simply not present in our acoustic landscape. Our ears have first to be awakened and taught to listen in another way to hear it. Singing like this also releases the daily tensions and pressure, over activity and stress diminish.

Yvonne de Bruijn
'Since my early childhood the voice fascinates me, but it was not before 1987 that it became my primary focus. My passion for the human voice has opened up new areas in my life.
From 1992 to1999 I studied Voice Movement Integration with Patricia Bardi in Amsterdam. This training puts great emphasis on "experiential anatomy", i.e. experiencing one’s body in movement and sound. The curriculum is partly based on Body-Mind Centering in which different body systems are accessed experientially while moving. In 2002 and 2003 I studied Sound and Therapy at the Lichtenberger Institute in Germany, where I refined my listening skills as well as my perception of the sounds of the singing voice. During all these years I have been singing and I still have regular lessons to develop my voice and hearing.
I am trained as a psychotherapist in Hakomi Integrative Psychology at the Hakomi Institute of Europe in Heidelberg. In the last 10 years I developed the Pansori Approach, an integration of the singing voice, the body, theater and therapy. I am a USA certified Somatic Movement Educator and Therapist (ISMETA).'
